This is a very good book. I only give five stars for exceptional books. Strangers is not a typical sleuthing nor is he a detective. He is a play right who finds himself involved peripherally in Mulder cases. He uses his instincts to solve the cases.
I enjoyed another in this series much more. And I did not guess the murderer but had a hard time remembering who he was.
Good, fairly intricate mystery set in a town like St. Albans. Emphasis on sorting out the story rather than the actual disclosure of the murderer.
Goodreads and the plot held my interest
This is the second book in this series that I have read. I like the characters and setting and the plots are interesting. I plan to read the other books when I can get them in
Augustus Maltravers is a very odd character. He acts like a somewhat ditzy old man. I had no idea who the killer was until the reveal.
It was a hard read. A lot of extra stuff that in the end was twice as much "fluff" as was needed to explain the area and location, the setting, the mood, and all that. It was a medium book to me, but chop 30 pages out and it is a lot better. The base story was good however.
