The Benefactor A Novel in Episodes Erin Fry Books

Good read, entertaining but gets at the aspects of the various characters personalities in the age range. Maybe a tad cliche on the various characters but they do cover the typical spectrum for high school kids. Good insight on The Benefactor himself. Interesting setting for tweens and older given the world of reality tv we live in today.

The Benefactor A Novel in Episodes Erin Fry Books Reviews

Easy reading and leaves you wanting more. Interesting background study on each of the characters! A perfectly pleasant read that keeps you engaged with the characters in the story line. Bravo!
The Author was very creative with the Theme. The reader's attention is captured and makes on want to see who is the last survivor. Her characters were well chosen to have a wide variety of backgrounds as well as personalities. I would recommend this book.
This was chosen for our book club (adult) monthly reading and the author attended our meeting. The book is very good and the author is a great speaker. She gave up part of her son's birthday to be with us. All our members enjoyed the book with many of them having children choosing colleges for fall.
Enjoy this author Erin Fry so very much. Check out her other work as well. Your kids will love being transported into her world and adventure. She is a Jr. High Teacher so she knows her audience here people! Sure to be an favorite.
The Benefactor is a self made techno entrepreneur who pits eight seniors against each other with challenges. Some characters were fully developed, others barely fleshed out. Once they were eliminated, they were forgotten. Two did come back for the final challenge. It would have been nice to learn about the forgotten ones post game. This may have been a YA book and not challenging enough for me, but did keep me occupied on the commuter train.
I enjoyed this book. I thought the premise of a reality tv show was interesting. With so many reality shows on tv today, I think it will appeal to it's intended age group - Jr. High to High School. The story was pretty fast paced with interesting characters. I purchased the book as a whole, but find myself intrigued with the concept of a book being published in episodes...just like a tv series.
I needed a quick read for a flight so I downloaded The Benefactor this morning to my iPad. I enjoyed the first installment. It's fast paced and held my interest. This is an intriguing idea--a group of kids all wanting a college scholarship for various reasons and the lengths they go to get it. I've picked a favorite (or two), even so, all the students have compelling stories. Ms. Fry has done a good job making the high school students distinct and "human." It's going to be interesting to see the plot unfold. The author doesn't let you know who won the current round at the end of this episode, which gives me something to look forward to next week. I can easily see this as a TV show.
